Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) at the North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a Research Specialist position, serving as the Cleanroom Equipment Engineer for JSNN's core facilities. Reporting to the Core Faculty Director, the Research Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of the cleanroom lab equipment, safety systems, chemicals, and supporting system maintenance, including installation and periodical testing of equipment, gases and supporting facilities, monitoring equipment performance, routine maintenance, calibration, and repairs. This person should be able to read and comprehend equipment manuals and technical drawings, along with documenting equipment failures, maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures for maintenance. Lastly, this person will provide technical assistance and training to lab users in regards to equipment operation and troubleshooting
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) at the North Carolina A&T State University is a core, shared user facility open to all researchers (both internal and external). This position will be housed in the one of the 12 core labs at JSNN, namely the Micro/Nanofabrication (Cleanroom) lab. JSNN's Cleanroom is a 7K+ Sq. ft. Class 100/1000 level facility with 30+ tools for various micro/nanofabrication processing and characterization.

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Optional Guidelines: Contributing: 4 year degree; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience. Journey: 4 year degree + 1 year of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience. Advanced: 4 year degree + 3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience.
Minimum one year of experience in operation and/or maintenance of lab equipment, specifically experience in working in a clean room micro and nanofabrication lab is necessary.
Ability to work independently and if required, work in a multidisciplinary environment with scientists and engineers.
Ability to interact with multiple levels of customers, both internal and external to North Carolina A&T State University.
Work may include physical labor such as lifting heavy loads, climbing and working on ladders, and more.
