Involves providing a variety of IT services. Assignments may include database administration, application programming, IT project management, systems administration, systems and process analysis, security, solution development and maintenance, business technical support or a combination of these and / or other IT functions.
The Technical Coordinator works closely with Arts Division faculty and students on digital arts research projects and classes, helping students technically conceptualize, develop, and refine their work, and providing resources and expertise to faculty and students to execute complex projects. The Technical Coordinator oversees lab spaces with complex equipment, and coordinates with other staff to help ensure lab and equipment safety.
The UCSC Arts Division includes the departments of Art, Film and Digital Media, History of Art and Visual Culture, Music, and Theater Arts, and the programs in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media (AGPM) and Digital Arts and New Media (DANM). AGPM is an arts-focused undergraduate program with a more STEM-focused counterpart in the UCSC School of Engineering. DANM is a dynamic, interdisciplinary M.F.A. program whose faculty are drawn from the Arts as well as the Engineering, Humanities, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences divisions.
Academic Divisional Computing staff are localized ITS staff embedded in the campus' five academic divisions who provide personalized, discipline-specific, IT support for faculty, staff and students in accomplishing the academic mission. We leverage commonalities through cross-divisional technical communities to develop and deliver right-sized/right-priced common services as appropriate, aggregating what we learn and provide as input to ITS.

Experience with and understanding of a wide range of art practices in the visual and performing arts, including video; virtual and augmented reality; robotics; musical and theatrical performance; media, sound and lighting design; installation art production; and games design.
Extensive experience with software applications used in the digital arts and games, including knowledge of tablet and smartphone application development.
Experience with computer, electronic, electro-mechanical and audio/visual equipment used in digital arts production.
Broad knowledge of various areas of IT. Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting IT issues.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
