Assistant Director for Housekeeping Services

Requisition Number: S_210006 Department: Campus Recreation-0965 Description of Work: Responsible for managing, directing and supervising the Campus Recreation Housekeeping Operation for 400,000+ square feet of indoor facilities, including the Campus Recreation Center, Recreation & Wellness Center, Outdoor Adventures Center, Leadership Training Center, Fleming Fields Annex Building, Crew Boathouse, and satellite restroom facilities, to include hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating staff members; monitoring budgets; and taking corrective action with assigned employees as necessary. Responsible for the purchase and inventory of supplies and materials needed for the housekeeping operation. Develop and implement safe operating procedures. Develop and implement documentation and preventive maintenance schedules for custodial equipment and cleaning/sanitation standards. Conduct inspections of the facilities to insure that cleaning/sanitation schedules are meeting specified standards. Assist in the development of the housekeeping budget. Assist with events in Campus Recreation facilities, contract UNL student organizations and community service workers to augment special cleaning needs of Campus Recreation facilities. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree plus three years professional/administrative experience in the housekeeping/custodial profession or equivalent education/experience. Experience managing and supervising employees. Experience with budget preparation and control, payroll functions and equipment purchasing. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in sport and recreation facilities that host a wide variety of events. Credentialed trainer, experience with Quality Assurance/Inspection and work loading software (examples: Smart Inspect, CompuClean) GBAC, Train the Trainer, Basic/Advanced Technician, IEHA member.
