Department FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB (BL-PHYP-IUBLA) Department Information The mission of the IU Bloomington Facility Operations is to operate and maintain a high-quality physical environment to enhance student learning, faculty teaching and research. Job Summary Assist with creation and implementation of all risk management, occupational safety and compliance programs for Capital Planning & Facilities, including Facility Operations, Real Estate, Utilities and Construction Management and other regional campus facility operations divisions. Act as the daily point of contact for all safety related programming and training (LO/TO, Arc Flash, Lifts, RPP, Hazard Communication, PPE Assessments, Confined Space, Injury Prevention and Investigation). In alignment with Director, determine the best course of action in developing a culture of compliance, taking into consideration IU Policy, State & Federal laws as well as conduct program audits and determine corrective action measures vetting implementation accordingly. Compile and analyze risk management data to determine patterns or areas of concern. Develop and analyze metrics/data to suggest program changes to Director. Lead culture change with upper management to build culture of collaboration, safety and compliance; lead internal electrical committee. Conduct injury and illness investigations of Indiana University employees who have been injured to determine why an accident occurred and what can be done to prevent additional injuries from occurring. Review injury and illness reports, track data trends for injuries, and provide information to divisions. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Construction Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field and three years of broad-based experience in commercial design/bid/build, or a facilities management environment with occupational safety experience. Possess an OSHA 30 certification, or ability to obtain certification within six months. Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University. Familiarity in all Microsoft Office and 365 platforms, Tableau, and collaborative software. Organizational and time management skills, with ability to work independently. Critical thinking and analytical skills. Working knowledge of OSHA, safety regulations, risk and safety compliance programs, root cause investigation methodology, and knowledge of risk analysis and data statistics. Knowledge of construction safety management with ability to provide history of consistent schedule and budget success. Ability to act with a safety first mindset. Ability to effectively communicate and influence with all levels of an organization. Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation, with ability to build effective relationships. Ability to review, analyze, and draw conclusions from data then effectively use the conclusions to make and communicate key recommendations and decisions. Ability to manage, lead, and coordinate multiple projects at once, often under tight deadlines, while always meeting the deliverables. Team-oriented, with ability to foster and support teamwork, and also lead. Preferred Qualifications Five years of experience. Working Conditions / Demands Physical ability to maneuver and assess physical conditions of machine and equipment rooms across the campus, to include wearing appropriate PPE and respirator. This position requires remaining stationary for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping; as well as lifting up to ten pounds frequently, and up to twenty five pounds occasionally. There are frequent close vision activities requiring reviewing, analyzing and recording data as well as using a computer and other office equipment. The activities of this position can produce stress. Equipment utilized: standard office equipment, safety monitoring equipment.
