SUMMARY: Under general supervision, oversees the general maintenance of the golf course and maintains the flow of communication from the Golf Course Superintendent throughout the Department; supervises assigned staff.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prioritizes and assigns daily work; supervises and trains staff; inspects and evaluates employee job performance and assists with corrections as necessary; meets with employees to discuss tasks, questions, and concerns.
Inspects condition of golf course and greens to determine what maintenance type, if any, is necessary.
Mixes and applies pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals; assists with the maintenance and calibration of the irrigation system and other equipment; operates various equipment and tools, and assists with manual labor as needed.
Meets with Golf Course Superintendent to discuss the current and future projects.
Supports the relationship between the City of Roswell and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent AND four years increasingly responsible landscape maintenance experience, two of which include maintenance of a golf course; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class D driver’s license issued by the State of New Mexico.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at on golf course and in course facilities; requires constant physical efforts, and operation of dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment
Must be able to pass a rigid background investigation including work history, criminal records, driving records, and other records deemed necessary.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen administered by a City-designated facility.
Must pass a pre-employment physical examination administered by a City-designated facility.
CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT:
Incumbents and candidates must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and insurability in accordance with the City’s insurance carrier.
