Job Summary: | Under the general supervision of the Plumbing Shop Supervisor for the UW-Madison, Facilities Planning and Management Physical Plant Plumbing shop, the Plumber position duties include, but are not limited to: maintenance, repair, installation and alteration of water lines, sewers, water heaters and softeners, toilet fixtures, laboratory equipment, etc., in buildings on the UW Madison Campus.

Responsibilities: | Maintains, repairs, assembles, and installs plumbing systems, fixtures, appliances, and equipment, in new and existing facilities to meet the specifications and approved plumbing codes to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities. - 30% Maintains, repairs, and installs all types of plumbing fixtures, appurtenance such as, but not limited to, toilets, basins, urinals, floor drains, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, laboratory benches, laboratory equipment, safety showers, safety eye washes, and apparatus
- 30% Maintains, repairs, and installs all types of plumbing systems, including, but not limited to, sanitary, storm, chemical waste lines and vents, sanitary and storm sewers, gas, water systems (hot, cold, soft and reverse osmosis) and laboratory services (gas, air, vacuum)
- 10% Maintains, repairs and installs appliances and equipment, including, but not limited to, hot water heaters, softeners, stills, reverse osmosis units, pumps, dishwashers and garbage disposals
- 5% Interprets blueprints and drawings to assess specifications and calculate the materials and equipment required. Discusses project plan with customer/client
- 5% Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs
- 5% Completes skilled plumbing constructions, remodels, demolitions, and repairs according to established trade standards and applicable building, plumbing, and safety codes
- 5% Reviews finished projects with client/customer. Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations
- 5% Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations
- 5% Work occasional nights, weekends and holidays, both scheduled and non-scheduled/afterhours calls

Education: | Required High School Diploma and the completion of a registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a Plumber as defined on DWD website - https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/apprenticeship/trades/plumbing.htm |
Qualifications: | Must have a current and valid State of Wisconsin Journeyman Plumber License. |

Crafts Workers/Tradesworker may elect an increased vacation allocation with a corresponding reeducation to the prevailing rate. 100 hours = $45.04 140 hours = $44.34 180 hours = $43.64 |
