Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Services, Transmagnetic Stimulation Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the Patient Care Technician is to be responsible for administering, monitoring, and scheduling Transmagnetic Stimulation (TMS) services, providing support for individuals served throughout treatment, and ensuring equipment safety and functionality.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts pre-treatment assessments to verify TMS therapy eligibility.
Demonstrates competency in procedures within scope of practice.
Explains TMS to individuals served and responds to inquiries related to the procedure.
Monitors individuals served throughout sessions to ensure their safety and comfort.
Provides regular feedback to TMS' multidisciplinary team members regarding responses from individuals served.
Assures medical equipment and supplies are available for utilization.
Monitors and inspects TMS equipment and reports any functionality and safety issues to supplier and supervisor.
Maintains accurate and complete documentation/records for individuals served.
Performs scheduling duties.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma.
Two years of relevant experience in a health care setting.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
PHYSICALDEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing. Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. May be exposed to agitated patients. Physical dexterity to position TMS equipment. Can expect to lift up to 25 lbs.
WORKENVIRONMENT: Moderate noise. Subject to unpredictable situations and both medical and psychiatric crises. Possible exposure to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens that require use of personal protective equipment.
