POSITION TITLE: Athletic Trainer & Assistant Athletic Director (Game Supervision) FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Part-Time (approximately 20 hours per week) REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
WORK HOURS: Onsite 3:00–6:00 PM Monday–Friday for daily administrative coverage. Additional evening hours (up to 9:00 PM) and occasional Saturdays required for home athletic events. Game schedule is set in advance each season.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Athletic Trainer & Assistant Athletic Director (Game Supervision) plays a vital dual role in student-athlete health and athletic program operations at Sion. From 3:00–6:00 PM each weekday, this position provides onsite after-school administrative supervision and student support. Evening hours and occasional Saturdays are scheduled in advance based on game-day needs and seasonal calendars.
As an athletic trainer, the role includes providing on-site care during practices and home games to ensure student-athlete safety, injury prevention, and rehabilitation support. As an assistant athletic director, the position supports home game operations, event staffing, and communication between coaches, families, and school leadership.
This is a highly collaborative, mission-aligned position for someone who is passionate about student well-being, detail-oriented event management, and fostering a positive and safe athletic environment.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
Master’s degree in Athletic Training required.
Current Board of Certification (BOC) as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
Current CPR/AED certification.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as an athletic trainer in a high school or collegiate setting.
Experience in athletic administration or game/event management preferred.
Strong knowledge of injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for adolescent athletes.
Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly in high-pressure situations.
Proficient in using athletic training equipment and technology.
Committed to ongoing professional development in sports medicine and athletic operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Athletic Training Duties
Provide prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athlete injuries across all sports.
Respond to injuries during practices and games with appropriate emergency care.
Conduct pre-participation evaluations and return-to-play assessments.
Monitor and support student-athletes’ physical and mental wellness throughout the season.
Develop individualized rehabilitation plans and collaborate with coaches on progress and return timelines.
Maintain complete and accurate records of injuries and treatment in compliance with legal and school standards.
Educate athletes and coaches on injury prevention, conditioning, and healthy practices.
Assistant Athletic Director Duties
Assist with supervision and coordination of all home athletic events.
Oversee game-day logistics including setup, equipment, safety, and event breakdown.
Support the scheduling and supervision of event staff (scorekeepers, timers, security, etc.).
Communicate with coaches, officials, and families to ensure smooth event operations.
Ensure student-athletes follow health and safety protocols during events.
Support the Athletic Director with administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and facility management.
Foster a positive environment for athletes, families, and guests.
General Responsibilities
Collaborate with coaches, faculty, and school staff to support the holistic development of student-athletes.
Stay current on best practices in athletic training, student health, and event management.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in a school environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and transport athletic equipment as needed.
Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
Work is performed both indoors (training room, gymnasium) and outdoors (fields, track), including evenings and weekends.
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
