The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) has met the standards of this position as outlined in the Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse Qualifications Standard. VA Handbook, 5005/3, Part II, Appendix G13, April 10, 2003. Basic Life Support certification is required. The LPN has the knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated effort and self-direction in carrying out the most complex practical nursing care assignments, in a variety of settings. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
