The University Club of Milwaukee is seeking an experienced candidate to manage the Grounds Maintenance facility and equipment. The University Club of Milwaukee has added a brand new fleet of John Deere Fairway mowers and John Deere Triplexes and is looking for a motivated Equipment Manager to assist in taking this classic course to the next level. New Grinders and G9 Golf Lift installed in the past year allows you to make this shop your own.

The Mechanic is a key member of the course maintenance team and is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all mechanical machinery to keep the course in prime condition.
Ideal candidates are analytical problem solvers and self-starters. They have extensive knowledge of small engine repair, including but not limited to equipment safety, inspection experience, and preventative maintenance. Additionally, this position will utilize technical hands-on skills such as setting heights, sharpening blades, welding materials, making cuts, and more. Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with availability to work, as needed. John Deere experience highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and effective preventative maintenance program in conjunction with operators to reduce mechanical failure and poor performance on all golf course equipment
Repair of all turf equipment and golf carts
Keep repair and maintenance records on all equipment
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical problems for all maintenance equipment
Set heights and sharpen blades on the cutting units
Make cuts, welds and braze as needed in repairing equipment and mowing units
Price comparison on all related parts and materials before ordering
Maintain a clean shop area and keep it orderly and efficient
Maintain an adequate supply of parts.
Monitor gas and fuel levels in storage tanks
Assure proper disposal of all related hazardous materials
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or manager
Education and Experience Requirements
1-3 years Mechanic experience
Knowledge of small engine repair
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
Ability to inspect equipment and related component
Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter
John Deere Experience highly desired
Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Frequently lifts, moves, and carries up to 50 pounds; to push or pull up to 100 pounds
Regularly exposed to hot and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, compact spaces, hot attic temperatures, and outside weather conditions
Noise level is moderate

The University Club of Milwaukee is a wonderful and highly respected golf course and is a joy to play for all skill levels. Having hosted the PGA Tour’s Great Milwaukee Open and numerous USGA qualifyings it is a stern test from the back tees. The original Tom Bendelow design is now complimented by tree lined fairways and well placed water hazards. The elevated tees and greens are an unexpected pleasure in this region. Always striving for improvement, The Club is currently working with Golf Course architect Andy Staples on a 10 year plan to preserve the integrity of the playing conditions and original design.
